Westchase Golf Club Didn’t Disappoint

Westchase GC 12th Hole

On the 12th hole, an accurate tee shot is a must as there is trouble on both the left and right sides of the fairway.

Westchase Golf Club has a reputation in Tampa Bay as one of the nicest in the area.  So I expected the course to be in good shape and I wasn’t disappointed.  Except for one or two tee areas the boxes were in great shape.  Fairways and greens were nicely mowed, firm and in overall good condition throughout.

The course is average length using three sets of tees, 6700 yards from the blues, just over 6200 from the whites and 5200 yards from the red tees.  We got around quickly in just over 3 hours on the Monday we played.  The course is beautiful as it winds you through nature sanctuaries and Westchase neighborhoods.  Except for a couple of holes, houses are not really a factor during play; however, there are substantial wetlands that do come into play on a number of holes.

Of course Westchase’s good reputation comes with a price – $59 on weekend mornings.  But if you check their rates, there are deals to be had for afternoon play.  We played on Monday after 2pm and spent $31 for the round which is a bargain for the course conditions and overall amenities offered.

Amenities included carts that were new and in good shape but the GPS system costs $5.00 extra.  The practice areas include an area for chipping and bunker practice by the driving range which hits into water using aqua balls.  There is a large putting green with several hole locations by the clubhouse which seemed to roll true to the greens on the course.

Westchase is located off Linebaugh Avenuein Westchase a 10 minute drive from the Veterans Expressway.  For more information check out their website at www.westchasegc.com.
