Pebble Creek Golf Club – A friendly neighborhood golf course.

18th green, Pebble Creek Golf Club

A good tee shot down left center gives you a good view for your second shot over water with sand short right to an elevated green.

Pebble Creek Golf Club is a neighborhood golf course that is recovering nicely from a less than favorable reputation prior to an ownership change several years ago.  Since then both the service and the course condition have improved considerably.

The $40 price tag for morning play seemed a little steep but after getting out on the course, the good conditions made it worth the money.  The price drops to $24 after 2pm which is a great deal.  We were also treated to a GPS system in the cart.

The morning I golfed was a Thursday and being a weekday we  zipped around the course in no time.  Most players shouldn’t have a problem completing it in less than 4 hours during the week.

The course isn’t long being just over 6400 yards from the blues and 6000 yards from the whites with two more forward tees making this a workable course for everyone.  However, there are challenges throughout the course.  Many of the greens are elevated and slope from back to front and water can come into play on almost every hole.

Tee boxes were all mowed and in good shape, as were the fairways but the rough seemed a little deep in places.  Sand traps were well raked and condition around the greens was also good. The practice areas are well-maintained although small.  The driving range is picked and mowed every Thursday and there is a small area to practice your pitches and a small practice green by the clubhouse.

Pebble Creek also features an Irish Pub called Mulligan’s with an authentic flair and large indoor and outdoor eating areas.  This makes a nice change from the sometimes generic dining options offered by most courses.  We had lunch in the clubhouse after the round and found the menu selections good and moderately priced. Overall, staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

This course is located in the Pebble Creek subdivision of New Tampa, about 2 miles off I75 on Bruce B. Downs Blvd.  Even if you don’t live in the area, this course is worth the trip because of the great condition.  For more information, visit their website at
