I played Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club’s North Course recently with an out-of-town friend. I haven’t played the North course since July 2011 (see my previous post here). We played in spite of the weather, which had been on-and-off rain all morning, and got lucky. After drizzle for the first 3 to 4 holes, the rain was done for the day.
No surprise it was cart paths only, but I was surprised at the good condition of the course despite the rain. The tees, fairways and greens were fine. The greens, even after being wet, were still fast. The sand although wet was also in good shape. This course is always a challenge because of the variety of shots required – it keeps you thinking. Even though the North course seems to have alot of open fairways, you still have to respect the well-placed sand traps and water hazards as there are some forced carries on tee and approach shots.

The 16th is a par 4 with drive over wetlands and sand down right. Second shot to slightly elevated green.
We payed $45 and also recieved a replay card for $30 since it was raining, which is a great deal, and we had the course to ourselves. With summer upon us, Lake Jovita will have some great deals to play its two championship courses. I recomend both Lake Jovita’s North or South courses for both the fun and the challenge.
Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club is located a few miles from I-75off SR 52 near Saint Leo University about a 30 to 40 minute drive from downtown Tampa. For more information visit www.lakejovitagolfcc.com
