Condition Update: TPC Tampa Bay

TPC Tampa Bay: 8th hole

The 8th hole is medium-to- long par 4 with water all down left side. Favor right-cent er of fairway for best angle to green.

I’m always available to play TPC of Tampa Bay, and was happy to have another chance over the weekend.  This public-access course offers some of the best golf in Florida.  The condition is always fantastic, especially now, only six weeks after their Champions Tour event, the Ecompass Insurance Pro-Am of Tampa Bay.

The course may be in immaculate condition, but it is challenging. There are five sets of tees that range from 6900 yards to just under 5000. The scorecard advises what tees to play via your handicap, which was pretty spot on for our group. We played as a foursome, teeing off late Saturday morning and finished in just over four hours. They also have a Cart Captain to maintain the pace of play.

You are treated to a PGA Pro-like experience from the moment you arrive and the friendly staff take your bags.  Prices are higher than many other courses in the area, but reasonable for the quality of the course, with summer rates ranging from $59 – $99.

Range balls are provided for your warm-up at their excellent and comprehensive practice facilities. Because of the quickness of the undulating greens, and tricky placement of sand around the course, the putting green and chipping area is where I spend my time.

Located in Lutz just off Lutz Lake Fern road, TPC Tampa Bay is a quick drive from downtown Tampa reachable via the Veterans Expressway.  For more details visit visit my previous post at: Golfing TPC Tampa Bay Provides Pro-Like Experience  and their website at: www.tpctampabay.com.
