Condition Update: South Course at Lake Jovita

Lake Jovita South Course: 1st hole

The par 4 1st hole is downhill. You must leave drive short of wetlands. Favor right center for second shot.

After returning home last weekend from vaction, a friend invited me to golf the South Course at Lake Jovita on Sunday morning.  Since I played this course a couple of months ago, I asked him why Lake Jovita and he said the area had recieved a lot of rain while I was gone and this course always drained really well.

He was right.  The course was in good condition despite the heavy rain showing why it is one of the premier courses in our area.  After teeing off I noticed the fairways were in good shape and not soggy at all.  The tee boxes and greens were well manicured, and even better, we didn’t have to observe “cart paths only.”

Other than some standing water in the sand traps and bunkers there was little evidence of the heavy rain.  The water was deep in places and I actually lost a ball in a bunker at the number 9 green.  The friendly staff made up for it though.  When I mentioned my lost ball at the Pro Shop before I left, they promised to have it waiting for me when I return.
